Math Help
There is a lot of math help out there over the Internet, but sometimes it is not enough. Usually, when I run into problems with my algebra homework, I do find some pretty good math help online. I am basically a good math student, and if someone explain something to me well, I usually get it. Usually, all you need is a little bit of extra review, and that is what the math help is for.
Every once in a while, however, I need a little bit more algebra help than I can get online. I am in an accelerated mathematics course, and the math lesson plans come and go pretty quickly. I barely have time to master one lesson before I have to move on to the next one. That means that I have to make sure that I get it, and get it quickly. Otherwise, I can end up hopelessly behind. That is why I have been seeing a math tutor recently. Some people go in for after school tutoring several times a week, but I found that once a week is enough for me. If you don’t have any serious academic problems, sometimes just having someone to meet with weekly is enough to get you through the difficult patches. It helps me to stay on task and to feel accountable for my homework. I think it has made me a better student in addition to helping with my math assignments.
One of my friends is a big fan of online tutoring. Personally, I like to get my math help face-to-face, but she insists that she can do the work just as well with someone explaining things over Instant Messenger. I kind of understand where she’s coming from. It’s a lot more convenient because she doesn’t have to go and meet with the tutor, and it costs her parents less money.
It’s nice that there are different options out there for different people. It means that more people can get the math tutoring that they need. My school is even thinking about starting a peer tutoring program where accelerated students can help teach their peers in after school math help sessions. I’m not sure if I’m going to do it yet, but it sounds pretty good. I’m not one of the best students, but I think I’m good enough at it to help others who have more difficulties with the subject matter. It would make me feel good about myself, and also give me something new to put on my college application next year.
