Acting Summer Camp
There are many different kinds of teen summer camps, but most kids just go to one of the basic ones. When I was a kid, I used to love all sorts of outdoor activities. At my teen summer camp, we would go rafting, hiking, sailing, and camping. It was a pretty basic outdoor camp, but I loved it. I had the time of my life there.
When my kid asked to go to acting summer camp however, I was a bit surprised. I did not realize that there were summer acting camps out there. I knew that he was into acting classes and I supported it, but I felt like he should do something more physical during the summer. Acting summer camp seemed like such an indoor, sedentary kind of thing. Nonetheless, he was pretty desperate to get in, so I relented. I figured that teen acting camp wood help to keep him out of trouble.
The place he wanted to get into was actually a pretty serious performing arts summer camp. I was pretty impressed when he got in. It was no mean feat. Although there are acting summer camps for pretty entry-level kids, this one was for seriously talented people. The very fact that he got in was an endorsement of his skill.
At that acting summer camp – as at most camps – they discouraged parents from coming early to see their kids. He was gone for four weeks, but I only got to meet up with him during the very last days. We got to see them perform the play they had been working on all month, and let me tell you it was spectacular. They had written, directed, and acted in it themselves. It had been an elaborate performance between the kids. Although some kids had played a bigger part in it than others, it seemed like everyone was represented.
My child was one of the most important performers in the acting summer camp production. He was not the lead in it, but he was one of the principal players in the play. He was actually playing the villain, and he was great at it. I have never found kids so creepy as I found my kid as he plotted and schemed about how to be the undoing of the protagonist. He had a great song too. I had given him singing lessons a few times, but I never knew quite how well he could sing. I think he probably improve his singing skills a little bit at the acting summer camp, but he must party have had it going in there. It was a pleasure to see my child do so well at something. It definitely was an experience that neither he nor I will soon forget.
