Beauty, Fashion, Jewelry, Shopping No Comments »

Pendants are a wonderful way to add character to your accessories. Stones of all colors, shapes and sizes can be arranged in an endless variety of designs to be worn attached to a necklace or bracelet. These pendants, like all jewelry, can be very small, simple and cheap, such as those a child might be given for a birthday, all the way to the extremely expensive designer pendants that are worn only by the rich and famous.

There are those that are very expensive, glittering with precious and semi precious stones set in the most costly metals. These may be very flashy and showy, or they can be more classic and conservative in design. The materials used, as well as the pendant designer will determine the cost and value of these pendants.

Body Shapers like All-in-One Body Shapers, Lingeries and Girdles

Clothes, Fashion, Uncategorized No Comments »

What can help you with building up your image as you look at the mirror each day? Consider body shapers. Women’s body shapers are much improved from the old fashioned girdles of the past that your mother or grandmother may have worn. You will find modern shapers offer not only performance but also comfort and style. Modern technology, innovative fabrics and new designs are just a few reasons today’s undergarments are so much better than they used to be. Old fashioned girdles and corsets were often too tight, obvious underneath clothing, unattractive and often trapped heat and sweat against the skin. Talk about unpleasant!

Become a Fashion Designer

How to Become a Fashion Designer

Ever since I was in junior high, it’s been my dream to become a fashion designer. I have always had a good eye for clothing designs, and can instantly tell if something “works” or not. Plus, I’ve also been designing and sewing my own creations since I was a teenager, so this is definitely the career for me.

The good thing about knowing exactly what I want to do with my life is that I can get a head start on figuring out which steps I have to take in order to achieve my goals. In fact, I’ve been researching what kind of qualifications I need to become a fashion designer for quite some time now, and am finally in a position to start sending out applications to top design schools.

There are actually a number of schooling options available to those aspiring to become a fashion designer. First of all, there’s the traditional college route, where students go to a regular college or university of their choice, and take a lot of classes related to the industry. This option appealed to me because of the flexibility involved, since I could go to virtually any school out there, but at the same time, I didn’t want to waste money taking a bunch of science or humanities classes that were required for graduation.

A better route open to those who want to become a fashion designer is to go to an art school where the entire focus of your education will be on design techniques and concepts. This is what I’ve decided to do, because I’m interested in working with instructors who are professional designers themselves and know what it takes to succeed in the industry. Moreover, I want my fellow students to be just as serious and passionate about clothing design as I am so that I can start to build a valuable network of contacts as soon as possible.

Of course, even if you’re already established in a different career, there’s still a chance for you to become a fashion designer if that has always been your dream. There are many quality online study programs available that would allow you to work towards your design certificate or degree without giving up your day job. Then once you receive your qualifications, you can change careers without missing a beat.

As I said, I’ve already decided which schools I want to apply to, and am currently getting my application materials ready to send out. I know it will take a lot of hard work and dedication to become a fashion designer, but I’m definitely up to the challenge. All of this extra effort will be worth it when it leads to a career that I’ll truly love!

beaded handbags

Fashion No Comments »

The beaded handbags of Roaring Twenties fame are once again a hot fashion trend!

In the 1920s, beaded handbags were all the rage, the one must-have bling item of the time. While these lovely handbags never really fell out of favor, women held the beaded handbag in reserve, limiting use to fancy nights on the town, theatre or ballet events, state dinners and the like. Today, beaded purses are back in the fashion news in a big way. What’s different is that, today, women are wearing them as everyday fashion accessories.

During the 1920s, these lovely beaded accessories were styled in an evening bag size. You couldn’t fit much more than your lipstick, a comb and some pin money in the typical beaded purse. The ones made today come in almost every style and size you might use for any number of occasions. You’ll find some quite original designs, from the classic evening bag to whimsical day-at-the-beach or go-to-school looks. For a luncheon or dinner date at an upscale restaurant, there are sophisticated styles made in a variety of patterns, in bright jewel tone color schemes, delicate and detailed geometrics of pink and pearl glass beads, or earthy shades in a mandala pattern.

The new beaded handbags are hand made works of art. Some resemble paintings, so detailed are the designs. For example, I spotted one with a peacock, sewn so carefully in the bead work that there was no mistaking the subject. Another, worked in light brown and beige beading, looked amazingly like bamboo. Rhinestones, glass pearls, lucite, bugle and seed beads are other popular materials. Most are lined in the classic black satin, with an inside pocket to hold a small mirror.

While beaded purses are not made with precious or semi-precious stones, the majority of the cost is in the labor and artistry. Some of the glass beading simulates semi-precious and precious stones quite attractively. Some styles have gold chain handles, which may convert to a clutch if you choose to put the chain inside the bag. Others have beaded or leather handles, matched to the style and intended use of the particular beaded handbag.

These very special purses make a great gift for the handbag devotee. Girls and women of all ages will certainly find an occasion to use their lovely beaded handbag. They are a pleasure to look at, even when not being used. You may inspire them to start a collection, or to start one yourself.
Most online vendors provide high resolution images of each beaded handbag, so it’s easy to see the quality of craftsmanship. Online shops often have informational articles which describe the materials and a little background on the history of this fashion accessory. A complex design that is perfectly worked will naturally be more expensive, while simple designs in just one or two colors are less pricey.

There are online shops which specialize in beaded purses, with matching accessories, such as earrings, necklaces and even hats. You can find both new and vintage purses as well. eBay is another place to look, for both new and vintage beaded handbags. you’ll find such a diverse selection of shapes and styles, each in a one of a kind design, you surely won’t have any trouble finding one that is a must-have!

Women Hair Styles

Fashion No Comments »

Women Hair Styles

There are many ways that women express themselves. Clothes and shoes are the things that most think about when they think about how they want to present themselves to the world. However, the women hair styles some choose can also make the same statement. What is great about these styles for women is that females have so many more options than men, and can change whenever they want. There are some limitations, however.

The hair on each women grows at different paces, but most get about a half an inch a month. Some get more, and some seem to have problems getting a few inches a year. That can dictate what types of women hair styles you can get, but that does not mean you can’t get what you want in time. It just takes longer to get styles to grow out if you want something new. If you have slow growing hair, short women hair styles are only a good idea if you know you can live with them for a long time to come.

If you don’t have to worry too much about how fast your hair grows, you have more leeway with women hair styles than others. You can get what you want knowing what you can change it in a few months if you wish to do so. Just remember that with some of the more trendy hair styles for women you run the risk of looking like everyone else, and that may not be what you are going for. If something is too out of the ordinary in style, you may have to keep it for a while, even if you don’t like it.

There is a bigger problem with women hair styles that some have. This happens when they have naturally curly hair. Though you can get some styles, you are limited in what you can do. Most can have anything if they have the time to straighten hair each day, but many do not have the time to spend an hour doing hair each day. If you want complicated women hair styles, but have curls, you should know the commitment you are making before you dive in and get the cut. You may even ask if there are other versions of the hair style for women that you want that work better with your natural curls.

Perhaps the hardest part of women hair styles is finding ones that look the best on you. You won’t always be able to wear the latest styles, and that may just be a good thing. You want to think about the shape of your face before you get any hair style. If you find that you have gotten the wrong one, don’t panic. Go back into your stylist and see if there are any modifications that they can make to help you with your women hair styles that are not quite working for you. Some stylist can work magic when you need it the most.

Naturally Curly Hair

Caring For Naturally Curly Hair

I have the same conversation with someone that I do not know at least once a week. They start out by telling me how much they love my hair, and the ask me if my curl is natural. I tell that that it is, and that I have a hard time dealing with it at times. They scoff, and then say that they would give anything to have naturally curly hair like I do. I think they are nuts, as this type of hair is more limited than they know, and it is very hard to care for. If this is what you have, there are some things that I have learned over the years that keep my curls looking the best that they can.

You should never settle for store brand shampoo when you have naturally curly hair. The curl in the hair comes because one side of the shaft grows more quickly than they other. This means that the shaft is not as strong as straight tresses. Because of that, damage occurs much more quickly and with more intensity. You should always go to a salon and ask for a professional shampoo and conditioner (never skip the conditioner!) for naturally curly hair. You can also get your other styling products there as well. It can be more expensive, but it is what your hair needs.

You may notice that your naturally curly hair does not grow as fast as the hair you see on your friends. This is not really true. What happens is that the hair curls, so it does not appear to grow. On the other hand, because the hair can be so damaged, it breaks off as it grows, making it appear as if the naturally curly hair is not growing as it should. You should be sure that you get a trim every six weeks, or sooner if you have damage. You don’t have to get a lot cut off, but you do want the splitting ends to be removed for the health of your hair.

You should also remember that though straightening hair can be easy, and can allow someone with naturally curly hair to have more options for styles. Because curls damage much more easily, you have to make sure you limit the times when you do this to your hair. Some think that steam can speed up the straightening of naturally curly hair, but that causes even more damage. You want to use heat without the moisture. Use products designed to protect your hair while it is going through this process and you are going to have healthier hair.

Overall, the above things should help you better care for your naturally curly hair. There are going to be times when you have to give in and get more cut off than you want, but you are going to have better looking hair, and you are going to find it will grow back more quickly than you think. It won’t look good long if inches of that hair are damaged. In between cuts, use things like frizz reducers to keep your locks looking good.

Haircuts For Curly Hair

Fashion No Comments »

Choosing Haircuts For Curly Hair

I have had curls and ringlets my entire life. Some that have curls find that they flatten out with time, but that has not been the case for me. They have relaxed some, but the curl is still very evident and hard to deal with. When I was a young girl, everyone called me Shirley Temple due to my long, blond, ringlets. They are not quite as tight today, but most think I have a perm in my hair. There are days I love my curls, and other days, I wish for something a bit smoother. The biggest problem that I have is finding haircuts for curly hair that would work with my type of curl.

Don’t just assume there are no haircuts for curly hair that are going to look good on you and just let your curls run wild, though that can be a good look. You should never settle for something that you think does not work with your face and makes you feel bad or even unkempt. What you want to do is to think about your curl type, and then see what haircuts for curly hair would be good for you and that you would like. This can be hard, but there is something out there for everyone.

Those with very loose curls that could almost be considered waves have the very best choices when it comes to haircuts for curly hair. What I mean by that is that they have the most options and their hair is going to behave much better than curls like I have. They can almost have any of the latest styles, though they are going to look a bit different. Different is not always bad, and in fact, can mean you have a cut that no one else has. That is always a good thing. If you see how many girls get the latest trends you know they all end up looking the same. That is not a worry for you.

If you have curls more like mine, your curls are quarter size or perhaps a bit larger. They are soft, but can be unruly as well. Haircuts for curly hair like this are fewer and are harder to maintain. Most choose a layered look with longer layers to keep the bulk down, and choose a length that works well for them. If it is too short, it can curl up on the head, which is probably not the best of hairstyles for curly hair. Your curls will pull out a bit as it grows, so keep it at length that shows off the curls that you want.

If you have very tight curls, you options are even more limited. You have a few choices. You can choose from the very few good haircuts for curly hair that you can get, or you can choose to have something that would require your hair to be straight. Some can get a professional straightening job and it looks good, others can not. If you have the time to straighten your hair each day, you can get much more from your haircuts for curly hair. That is not an option for everyone, as it can take some time, but if that works for you, that is the best way to have the most choices in your look.
